The dynamic hip-hop duo Flyana Boss, comprised of MCs and multi-instrumentalists Bobbi LaNea and Folayan, have announced their highly anticipated EP, ‘This Ain’t the Album,’ set for release on March 29 via vnclm_ / Atlantic Records. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, they’ve unleashed their latest single, “yeaaa,” a high-energy track that showcases their signature style and infectious energy.
Hailing from Detroit, MI, and Dallas, TX, Bobbi and Folayan first met at a Los Angeles music college, immediately clicking and forming Flyana Boss. The Washington Post has praised the duo for their fashion, songwriting, and captivating stage presence, describing them as embodying “the spirit of flyness and bossness.”
Flyana Boss made waves with their viral hit “You Wish,” produced by hitmaker Marky Style, which debuted at #1 on Spotify’s Viral 50 in the US and #6 globally. The track’s success led to an iconic remix featuring rising star Kaliii and the legendary Missy Elliott. The duo’s momentum continued with tours supporting Janelle Monáe and Kesha, as well as the release of standout singles like “Bitch Imma Star,” “Big One,” “UFHO,” and “Candyman.”
HYFIN was the first radio station in the country to have Flyana Boss in rotation, recognizing their immense talent and potential early on. In an exclusive interview with HYFIN’s music director, Element, last July, the duo discussed their creative process, influences, and more.
“yeaaa” follows the previously released single “Candyman,” which will also appear on ‘This Ain’t the Album.’ The new track is a characteristically buoyant and danceable hip-hop bop, clocking in at under two minutes. In the song, Flyana Boss playfully asserts that they aren’t interested in stealing anyone’s boyfriend, with the duo stating, “Important reminder: we don’t want your man, never wanted your man, never will want your man. But we do love to dance.”
Fans in the Milwaukee area can catch Flyana Boss live at The Rave on June 8 as part of T-Pain’s Wisconsin Fest. The lineup also features performances by LaRussell, Pink Sweat$, and Milwaukee’s own Myyap.
