HYFIN Verified Artist, Q, is a singer-songwriter from Pembroke Pines, Florida. Raised by his Jamaican musician parents, his father’s reggae, dance hall and Diwali rhythms have been sampled by artists as Rhianna, Sean Paul, Justin Bieber and Nikki Minaj. Mixing his own talent with notes from his father, Q creates timeless music. His songs have appeared in numerous television shows, and he was selected as one of Spotify’s Artists To Watch in 2023, under the “R&B Rising” category.

Q has mastered how to maximize the use of his falsetto in a way that most artists would envy. When we sat down to discuss his new music, what I found most interesting was that music gave him his ‘voice’. For most of his life he was private and music offered him an outlet, he likened it to speaking with a therapist. We also discussed music that inspired him growing up, when he finally had the courage to make music and some of his favorite musical memories.

The following interview has been edited for brevity and clarity.
