In its seven-plus years, the COLORS music series has given an uncluttered spotlight to some of the biggest artists in the world, as well as the ones growing into that lofty status. Black Thought, Sudan Archives, Brandy, Adi Oasis, Christine and the Queens, Quavo & Takeoff — they’ve all stepped onto the COLORS stage.

Now, Grace Weber can count herself among that elite company.

The COLORS episode featuring the artist behind Grace Weber’s Music Lab (and, to the best of our knowledge, the first Milwaukee-area artist to appear on the series) dropped this morning, giving Weber the chance to step into a space that truly lets the song shine: a hanging mic, a simple blue background and a talented vocalist doing what they do best.

For Weber, that involved delivering a smooth, seamless rendition of her most recent single, “Intimate.” Part of a collection that includes two previously released tracks, the song is exactly what its title indicates: a slice of R&B in which she speaks (or sings) directly to her partner, inviting them to … get a little bit closer:

Take your time, let’s take it slow
Like we’re never letting go
Show me more than I can see
Stay up all night with me

As Weber told Rated R&B, “Ultimately, it’s about the layers of just getting extremely close and knowing you can’t get ‘unclose’ when you become that intimate with someone. It’s always the space you two exist in, even if you don’t end up together.”

You can watch Weber’s episode at the top of the page, find the single on all the usual streaming platforms and keep an eye out this fall for her sophomore album.
