Our guest on this episode of Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow is Milwaukee media icon Kim Murphy. She is one of the longest tenured voices and faces in local news in the city. HYFIN is more than a music station, and what better way to connect those dots than to have a media legend who, for years, many have seen each morning on FOX6 WakeUp.

The very private Murphy shared stories about growing up on Milwaukee’s North Side, swimming at Lincoln Park and skating at the Palace. Alongside HYFIN’s Anthony Foster, she discusses her challenges ‘fitting in’ in high school, life at the University of Wisconsin, joining Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, her desire to be in news, her biggest viral moment and of course, music!

The following interview was edited for clarity and brevity.
