In honor of Black History Month, HYFIN, Radio Milwaukee’s dynamic Urban Alternative station, is delighted to announce a month-long celebration dedicated to the theme of Black love. Throughout February, HYFIN will host a beautiful tapestry of events, each thoughtfully curated to support and uplift the community. This campaign for connection and culture will unfold in partnership with various mission-aligned local organizations.
As one of Milwaukee’s central voices for urban culture and music, HYFIN has meticulously planned these festivities to reflect the significance of Black love and the crucial contributions of Black individuals and artists to the tapestry of American history.
The engaging co-programmed events are designed to provide memorable experiences that embody togetherness and appreciation and are spread throughout the month.
First in the lineup is a powerful collaboration with the Milwaukee Bucks. On Monday, February 5th, HYFIN invites the community for a revelatory conversation about Black Love. Designed to witness the rich dialogues and stories within the community, this event promises engaging discourse and an exploration of the facets of love within the context of Black experiences.
On Sunday, February 18th, in cooperation with the Milwaukee Wine Academy, HYFIN will offer an evening of ‘Black Wine Producers: Celebrity Edition.’ This event acknowledges the influence and excellence of Black entrepreneurs in the wine industry and provides a platform for celebration and education on the subject.
Additionally, as a cornerstone of its February offerings, HYFIN, together with Radio Milwaukee, is proud to be the media sponsor for Culture x Design’s event ‘Black Love x Design: Boomerang Reconsidered – Making the Case for an Underrated Black Cinema Classic’ on Friday, February 16th. The event will be a retrospective examination and celebration of the film “Boomerang,” highlighting its cultural impact and contribution to the representation of Black love in cinema.
This collection of events signifies more than just entertainment; it is an emblem of HYFIN’s rooted dedication to nurturing communal ties and fostering a deeper understanding of the richness of Black culture. By championing such engagements, HYFIN is paying homage to Black History Month and reinforcing its role as a catalyst for inclusion, storytelling, and shared learning.
