Newport Jazz Festival announces 2024 lineup

The Newport Jazz Festival, a pillar of the American music scene, is set to commemorate its 70th anniversary with an impressive array of talent across various genres. This year’s event, curated in collaboration with Artistic Director Christian McBride, will take place from August 2-4 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island.

Iconic artists such as André 3000, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Kamasi Washington, and Elvis Costello are headlining the festival. These diverse acts showcase the festival’s commitment to celebrating jazz and its related genres. The lineup also features a strong showing from HYFIN artists like Robert Glasper, Brittany Howard, Noname, Moonchild, Meshell Ndegeocello, Lianne La Havas, Makaya McCraven, Kassa Overall, Jazz is Dead, and Theo Croker set to perform.

The festival’s solo presentations include performances by acclaimed bandleaders and artists such as Cory Wong, Laufey, Chief Adjuah, Samara Joy, aja monet, Shabaka, and Alex Isley. In addition, the event will showcase some of the most prominent ensembles in various jazz microcosms, including Ghost-Note, Christian McBride’s Jam Jawn, Bill Frisell Four, and The Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis.

One of the most anticipated performances is the Grammy-nominated supergroup Dinner Party, featuring Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, and Robert Glasper. The festival will also pay tribute to the late jazz legend Wayne Shorter with a special celebration of his legacy.

Other notable acts include a unique duo performance by Makaya McCraven and Jeff Parker, the debut of Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad’s Acid Jazz is Dead project, New Orleans funk pioneers Galactic with the legendary Irma Thomas, genre-defying duo Thievery Corporation, and the ever-evolving Sun Ra Arkestra led by the nearly 100-year-old multi-instrumentalist Marshall Allen.

The Newport Jazz Festival’s 2024 lineup is a testament to its status as one of the most prestigious music festivals in the United States. With its diverse and star-studded roster, the event continues to showcase the best in jazz and its related genres while attracting music enthusiasts worldwide.

Specially priced 3-day tickets are currently available through DICE. This offer will end on April 10 at 1:00 p.m. ET, coinciding with the launch of all other ticket types. For more information and updates on the festival’s evolving lineup, visit newportjazz.org.
