Milwaukee-born Aryeè The Gem's new song 'FWM' explores intimacy

Aryeè The Gem, a multifaceted singer and songwriter, has recently released her latest single, “FWM,” featuring Atlantic Records’ R&B artist DRAM. The song, which dropped on May 1, 2024, under the independent music label Saint & Citizen, is a soulful and personal love letter to herself and her journey towards finding true love and a partner who genuinely sees her for who she is.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Aryeè currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Her musical journey began at a young age, as she was immersed in choirs from elementary school through college. Aryeè’s early influences include legendary black musicians such as Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, and Brandy. These have shaped her unique sound that merges alternative R&B and hip-hop elements to create an eclectic high-frequency experience.

“FWM” is a testament to Aryeè’s growth as an artist and individual. Written by Aryana Damesha Jackson and Shelley Massenberg-Smith and produced by Trakmatik, Hvstle, and “Cojo,” the song captures the moment when insecurities melt away upon meeting someone special. The accompanying video, produced by Black Dog Films and directed by MOM, artistically showcases Aryeè and DRAM in a beautiful natural setting, further emphasizing the song’s themes of vulnerability and intimacy.

“It was my intention to articulate the vulnerability, intimacy, and safety of being in a sacred space with someone you value,” Aryeè explains. “FWM depicts my self-reflective journey seeking out what I like and desire from a partner. In that time, I figured out I didn’t align with hookup culture nor emotionally unavailable people. I can tell you that with this song, I am my full, complete, and authentic self, and I am excited to share this latest project with my fans.”

The release of “FWM” follows Aryeè’s previous single, “Mornings with you,” which garnered over 200,000 streams on Spotify. This success comes less than a year after her progressive soul debut, “Spring,” which received over 100,000 streams and caused a stir on TikTok. With her debut solo EP slated for release this summer via Saint & Citizen Music, the Milwaukee-born artist Aryeè The Gem is undoubtedly an artist to watch as she continues to beautifully intersect art and healing through her introspective and captivating musical expression.
