Childish Gambino, the musical moniker of multi-talented artist Donald Glover, has finally released his long-awaited album ‘Atavista.’ The project dropped earlier this morning and is an updated version of his 2020 album “3.15.20”.
‘Atavista’ is out now and features 11 tracks, running for approximately 55 minutes. The album includes new songs like “Human Sacrifice” and the title track, previously performed on Gambino’s This is America Tour. The tracklist also features reworked songs from ‘3.15.20,’ with official titles replacing the timestamp-based names used in the original release.
Glover first teased ‘Atavista’ in March 2024, sharing the album’s cover art and tracklist on his Instagram. He later revealed that ‘3.15.20’ was rushed out due to personal issues and the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and that ‘Atavista’ would serve as a more polished, “finished” version of the album.
In addition to ‘Atavista,’ Gambino announced plans to release one more album under his stage name. During a ‘GILGA Radio’ livestream on Instagram, Glover confirmed that following ‘Atavista,’ he will drop “Bando Stone & The New World,” which will double as the soundtrack for his upcoming film of the same name. “We’re releasing ‘Atavista,’ but after that, there’s the final Childish Gambino album — a soundtrack for the fans,” he stated.
Gambino also released a music video for the Atavista track “Little Foot Big Foot,” directed by Hiro Murai, who is a frequent collaborator.
