FEAR MKE, short for Forget Everything And Run, is marking its tenth anniversary with a significant celebration promoting inclusivity within the running community. This milestone highlights the organization’s dedication to fostering a welcoming environment for runners of all backgrounds and skill levels.

Since its inception in May 2015, FEAR MKE has been committed to bridging the fitness gap in Milwaukee. The group’s mission is to introduce running as a method of staying active while simultaneously building meaningful relationships among participants. Unlike traditional running clubs, FEAR MKE embraces diversity and prioritizes the safety of all runners, catering to individuals ranging from seasoned athletes to those just starting their fitness journeys.

From June 5 to June 8, 2024, FEAR MKE will host the first-ever Bridge the Gap event in the Midwest, an initiative founded by Mike Saes of NYC Bridgerunners and Charlie Dark of Run Dem Crew. Bridge the Gap is renowned for uniting urban running crews globally, and its presence in Milwaukee will underscore the city’s vibrant running culture and community spirit.

The four-day event promises a variety of activities focused on health, wellness, social interaction, and community engagement. Highlights include a night run on Global Running Day, a boat ride on Lake Michigan featuring sightseeing and dancing, and the annual Run the Yard races—a 5K and a 10-miler. Participants in the races will receive a t-shirt and a swag bag full of goodies, with registration fees set at $35 and $55, respectively.

The upcoming events offer an opportunity to showcase Milwaukee’s popular outdoor spaces, local businesses, and cultural assets to a national and international audience of runners. Co-founder and lead captain of FEAR MKE, Tenia Fisher, expressed her excitement about merging her passion for running with her love for Milwaukee. “To be able to merge my love for running and for Milwaukee and share that with other runners from across the United States is beyond my wildest dreams!” she remarked.

ASICS has partnered with FEAR MKE to support this ten-year celebration, ensuring the event will be memorable for all participants. The partnership underscores the importance of community support in promoting health and wellness initiatives.
