Milwaukee's J.P. releases new video for "Private Room"

Milwaukee-based artist J.P. has released a new video for his track “Private Room,” a song from his debut album “Coming Out Party.” The video, directed by JD Miyagawa, was shot in New York City and features an appearance by Milwaukee’s 414bigfrank.

“Private Room” is an R&B track that demonstrates J.P.’s versatility as an artist. The song’s production blends elements of hip-hop and R&B, resulting in a contemporary sound. J.P. collaborated with Hardheaded and A-Lau to write the track.

J.P. is balancing his career as an emerging artist with his responsibilities as a student-athlete, majoring in music and playing basketball at The University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. His trained classical jazz vocalist background sets him apart in the rap scene.

The artist’s recent success with his single “Bad Bitty” has garnered attention from industry publications, with Billboard noting its potential impact this summer. J.P.’s work contributes to the evolution of Milwaukee’s “lowend” sound, incorporating vocal techniques such as scatting and exploring different timbres. As J.P. approaches one million followers on Instagram, he is increasingly seen as a representative of Milwaukee’s rap scene on a global stage.
