Black Arts Fest MKE 2024 returns this Aug. 3, full lineup announced

The annual Black Arts Fest MKE is set to return to Milwaukee’s Summerfest grounds on August 3rd, 2024. This year’s event will offer a full day of cultural experiences, performances, and family-friendly activities. It aims to showcase various artistic expressions rooted in African and African American culture.

The festival’s main stage, the Miller Stage, will feature various musical acts throughout the day. The lineup includes jazz performances by Christopher’s Project, R&B artist Andre Lamar, and gospel acts such as AMPM (Anthony McGhee & Praise Motivated). The evening will culminate with a Black Culture & Fashion Show and a performance by Soul of Chicago with Shon Hinton.

In addition to the main stage, the Arts Pavillion will host several sessions combining visual arts and poetry. These performances, sponsored by Vibez Creative Art Spaces, will include painting demonstrations and poetry readings, offering attendees a multisensory artistic experience.

The Family Village & Kids Area provides a range of activities for families attending the festival. This section will feature read-aloud sessions, dance performances, and an African Family Fashion Show. A notable inclusion is a performance by Briana Harper from NBC’s America’s Got Talent, adding a touch of national recognition to the local event.

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to events at the Basketball Court, which will host exhibitions and appearances by former professional players. The schedule includes a showcase by Rafer “Skip2My Lou” Alston, a former Milwaukee Bucks player and streetball legend.

The festival’s diverse programming reflects its commitment to representing various Black culture and artistry aspects. From music and dance to visual arts and literature, Black Arts Fest MKE continues to provide a platform for artists and performers while offering educational and entertaining experiences for attendees of all ages.
