Literary agency launches 4th annual grant for Black writers

Pippin Properties, Inc., a respected literary agency based in New York City, has announced the launch of its fourth annual Black Creatives Grant. The grant, valued at $6,000, aims to support emerging talent in the publishing industry, focusing on unpublished, aspiring Black writers.

The initiative is part of Pippin Properties‘ ongoing efforts to address systemic disparities in the publishing world and elevate underrepresented voices. By centering Black stories and experiences, the agency hopes to contribute to a more diverse and inclusive literary landscape.

Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an unpublished, aspiring Black writer
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Possess a Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number

To apply, candidates are required to submit:

  • 10 pages of sample writing
  • A one-page cover letter summarizing their work and explaining how the grant would benefit their creative pursuits

Submissions should be emailed to [email protected] by 11:59 p.m. EST on Saturday, August 31st, 2024. The cover letter and sample pages must be double-spaced and submitted as a PDF attachment, with numbered pages and contact information in the document header.
