‘Grammy-winning singers Victoria Monét and Usher have collaborated on a new single titled “SOS (Sex on Sight).” The track, produced by Camper, was released on digital platforms on August 27, marking the first musical partnership between the two accomplished R&B artists.
Monét, who gained widespread recognition with her 2023 album “Jaguar II,” described the song in a press statement. “[‘SOS (Sex on Sight)’] is about desire,” she explained. “It’s about the urgency you feel when you need some love, physical touch, and quality attention.”
The release follows Monét’s recent success at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2024, where she secured three wins, including the prestigious Best New Artist award. Her album “Jaguar II” also earned her Best R&B and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical accolades.
Usher, an eight-time Grammy winner, has been a prominent figure in the R&B genre for nearly three decades. The artist has maintained relevance through his Las Vegas residency and high-profile performances, including the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2024.
The collaboration between Monét and Usher was foreshadowed at the BET Awards earlier this year, where Monét participated in a tribute to Usher alongside singer Teyana Taylor. Monét had previously expressed admiration for Usher, referring to him as “a living legend and a real class act” after attending his Las Vegas residency in November 2023.
According to industry sources, “SOS (Sex on Sight)” is expected to be included in the upcoming deluxe edition of Monét’s “Jaguar II” album. The original album significantly contributed to Monét’s recent Grammy success and commercial breakthrough.
