September's Latest & Greatest lineup: Nile x Nile, Blax & Protegé

HYFIN, a Black-led media movement from Radio Milwaukee, presents its highly anticipated September edition of Latest & Greatest. The event, designed to spotlight and support musicians from across Wisconsin, emphasizes local artists. This month’s lineup features a diverse Milwaukee talent, including Nile x Nile, Blax, and Protegé. DJ Snack Daddy will provide musical accompaniment throughout the evening.

The concert is scheduled for September 13 at Radio Milwaukee studios at 220 E. Pittsburgh Ave. Music enthusiasts can secure advance tickets for $10 through Eventbrite, while door prices are set at $15.

Nile x Nile

Nile x Nile is at the forefront of Alternative Hip Hop in Milwaukee. The artist has made significant strides in the Midwest music scene, opening for renowned acts like Pusha T and Run The Jewels.Drawing inspiration from artists such as Vic Mensa, Isaiah Rashad, and The Internet, Nile x Nile emphasizes lyricism. This focus, combined with a distinctive voice, sets the artist apart.Nile’s latest album, “Nostalgia Everclear,” is available on all major streaming platforms. The album showcases the artist’s unique take on hip-hop and undeniable raw talent.

Protegé

Protegé, another Milwaukee native, has music deeply ingrained in his DNA. Growing up watching his brothers in the music group Mindstate, Protegé developed a passion for the art form early on.With four years of industry experience, Protegé has become a versatile artist. His music is known for its authenticity, vulnerability, and personal touch.Protegé’s career highlights include performances at major events like Summerfest and On Da Radar. He has also opened for Eshu Tune, also known as Hannibal Buress.

His latest project, “T.H.O.U.G.H.T.S.” (Time Heals Only You, God Heals The Soul), offers insight into the challenges of being an independent artist. The album is accompanied by seven music videos, which will be released this year.Beyond music, Protegé has ventured into modeling and acting. He has appeared in campaigns for Kesslers Diamonds and The Trade Hotel and films like “Circumstances 2 & 3.”

Blax

BLAX, a multifaceted talent from Milwaukee, has been carving his niche since the early 2000s. As an emcee, singer, songwriter, and producer, BLAX brings a comprehensive skill set to his performances.After a brief hiatus in 2018 due to personal loss, BLAX returned to the scene with renewed focus and vigor. His comeback has been marked by critical acclaim and growing recognition.BLAX’s accomplishments include features in prestigious publications like Fader, The Source, and Respect Magazine. In 2018, the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards Council named him the best Rap/Hip-Hop artist.

HYFIN, as a Black-led media movement, plays a crucial role in Milwaukee’s cultural landscape. By organizing events like Latest & Greatest, HYFIN contributes to the city’s vibrant music ecosystem.The organization’s focus on local talent helps foster a supportive environment for artists.
