TV on the Radio’s lead singer, Tunde Adebimpe, released his first solo single, “Magnetic.” The track marks his debut release with Seattle-based label Sub Pop Records. Sub Pop co-founder Jonathan Poneman pursued Adebimpe’s signing for over two decades.
“We heartily welcome Tunde Adebimpe to Sub Pop’s roster of artists. His inclusion makes the whole lot better – and a whole lot classier! We’ve waited 20-plus years for Sub Pop to earn the chance to be Tunde Adebimpe’s label,” Poneman said. The singer will release his first solo album through Sub Pop in 2025. Adebimpe directed the music video for “Magnetic” himself.
The multifaceted artist recently appeared in “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” and “Twisters.” His collaborative work includes projects with Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Massive Attack. His artistic portfolio extends beyond music into animation and visual arts.
TV on the Radio is touring to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album. The band performs sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, and London. The anniversary tour honors their 2004 release, “Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes.”
Sub Pop’s current roster includes established artists Father John Misty, Beach House, and Weyes Blood. The label continues to expand its influence in independent music with Adebimpe’s addition.
