Milwaukee’s hip-hop community plans a tribute concert for the late Antoine “Twan Mack” Mack. The event will take place at The Cooperage on January 11, 2025. Mack, who passed away on November 8, 2024, pioneered Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop. His sudden death impacted artists and fans across Milwaukee’s music landscape.
The tribute show, titled “The Sound of Kareem City,” will feature over twenty local performers. Notable artists include BLAX, Dame Ellzey, Doc B, DJ Dripsweat, NilexNile, Stricklin and members of the Rusty P’s.
Mack’s legacy began in the early 1990s with the groundbreaking group Kali Tribe. The group made history as Milwaukee’s first hip-hop act featured on BET. His career expanded internationally through collaborations with Grammy-winning group Arrested Development. Mack toured Europe with the group, broadening Milwaukee’s hip-hop presence globally.
In a May 2023 interview with HYFIN, Mack discussed his European tour experiences. He shared insights about Milwaukee’s evolving hip-hop scene with host Element Everest.
The tribute event starts at 3 p.m. and will showcase live art and exclusive merchandise. All proceeds will support Mack’s mother and family members. Local artists praise Mack’s role in bringing major hip-hop acts to Milwaukee. He performed alongside legends Slick Rick and Souls of Mischief.
The celebration will be free and open to the public. Organizers expect a large turnout from both local and international supporters.
The Cooperage venue, located at 822 S. Water Street, will host rotating performances. DJ sets will feature Mack’s extensive musical catalog. For those unable to attend, a GoFundMe campaign supports funeral costs and his mother’s needs. The fundraiser remains active for distant supporters wishing to contribute.
