Milwaukee’s largest hip-hop cultural celebration reaches its tenth anniversary this March 22. The Adidas Day Party, founded by entrepreneur Lena Cole, takes place at Turner Hall Ballroom. Cole recently received recognition for her contributions to Milwaukee’s music scene. HYFIN’s Anti-Gala honored her with the Entrepreneur Award for R&B Live in October.
The event continues its tradition of featuring renowned hip-hop artists. Previous performers include Digital Underground, DJ Kid Capri, and Fatman Scoop.
The celebration connects to a deeper history between Adidas and hip-hop culture. Run-DMC signed hip-hop’s first million-dollar endorsement deal with Adidas in 1986.The partnership began after Run-DMC released their track “My Adidas” that same year. An Adidas executive witnessed thousands of fans holding up sneakers at Madison Square Garden.
The relationship transformed both the music and fashion industries significantly. Adidas became a symbol of authentic street culture through Run-DMC’s influence. Today, the brand maintains strong ties with hip-hop through various artist collaborations. Partnerships include work with Pharrell Williams and Pusha T.
The Milwaukee celebration offers both VIP and general admission options this year. Organizers promise surprise performances from national hip-hop legends.Local DJs will provide music throughout the event at Turner Hall. Food and beverage options will be available for attendees.
The Adidas Day Party MKE Facebook page announces additional pre-party events. Fans can access information about exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities there.
