HYFIN Verified: Spotlighting Rising Stars in Black Music HYFIN Verified is a monthly feature by HYFIN, Milwaukee's Urban Alternative radio station, that highlights and promotes emerging artists who represent and reflect Black culture. This month, we shine a light on four talented acts making waves in the music scene: Chuck Strangers, Infinity Song, Halima, and Seafood Sam. Chuck Strangers: A Hip-Hop Renaissance Man Brooklyn-based artist Chuck Strangers recently released his new album, "A Forsaken Lover's Plea," via Lex Records. The project showcases Chuck's evolution as a rapper, beatmaker, and executive producer, marking a milestone in his musical journey. Drawing from his experiences as a central figure in the Pro Era collective, Chuck has honed his skills and developed a unique voice in hip-hop. "A Forsaken Lover's Plea" features Chuck's self-reflection on his relationship with the genre, detailing the joys and challenges of life as a musician. With production assistance from notable collaborators like The Alchemist and Animoss, as well as guest features from Joey Bada$$, Erick The Architect, and Remy Banks, the album demonstrates Chuck's ability to craft a cohesive and compelling project from start to finish. Infinity Song: Sibling Harmony and Musical Versatility Formed in 2014 in New York City, Infinity Song is a sibling band consisting of Victory, Abraham, Angel, Israel, and Thalia "Momo" Boyd. Raised in a musically inclined family, the siblings developed their signature harmonies and cultivated a dedicated fanbase through street performances. Their talent caught the attention of Jay-Z, who signed them to Roc Nation Records in 2016. Infinity Song's debut album, "Mad Love," released in October 2020, showcases their smooth R&B sound infused with singer-songwriter and hip-hop influences. The multi-talented siblings serve as singers, songwriters, arrangers, instrumentalists, and producers, highlighting their musical versatility and the heartfelt quality of their familial collaboration. Halima: A Tri-Continental Tale of Soul and Self-Discovery Halima, a Brooklyn-based artist with roots in Lagos and London, is set to release her new EP, "EXU," on May 24th via drink sum wtr. The project, named after the Yoruba deity of change and unpredictability, reflects Halima's journey of self-discovery and personal growth. The lead single, "Awaken," showcases Halima's deep, layered vocals and astute lyricism, contrasting rolling drum patterns with the gentle plucks of a bass. The song explores the aftermath of a breakup and the process of coming back to oneself. Halima's powerful vocals resonate throughout the forthcoming project, weaving seamlessly into the fabric of the beats. Seafood Sam: Long Beach's Rising Rap Star Hailing from the Carmelitos neighborhood of North Long Beach, California, Seafood Sam is making a name for himself in the rap scene. Known for his smooth delivery and genre-blending sound that incorporates hip-hop, R&B, and other influences, Sam has released several well-received projects, including his 2019 album "Dior Velour."
