Rock the Vote and Lil Uzi Vert for Milwaukee festival this Saturday

According to the Journal Sentinel, hip-hop artist Lil Uzi Vert will headline Milwaukeeland, a free concert and culture festival focused on voter engagement. The nonpartisan event will take place outside Milwaukee Area Technical College from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Lil Uzi Vert scheduled to perform at 1 p.m.

Rock the Vote, a nonpartisan organization, coordinated the festival to boost youth voter participation. The event requires online pre-registration, where attendees must provide basic information to secure tickets. Event organizers encourage VIP ticket holders to arrive by 10 a.m. for guaranteed entry.

A block party outside Milwaukee Area Technical College from 10am-3pm CT, Milwaukeeland will showcase the city’s vibrant spirit with carnival games, hip-hop roller rinks, minigolf, half-pipe competitions, street style, and the best of the Milwaukee food truck scene. Early voting will be accessible at Milwaukee Area Technical College, and attendees are encouraged to vote before or during the block party.

“As early voting kicks off in Wisconsin, Milwaukeeland will serve as an avenue for young Milwaukeeans to come together in community to express their voices and cast their votes.” said Carolyn DeWitt, President and Executive Director of Rock the Vote. “Milwaukeeland aims to break down barriers to voting and center young people in the civic process, all while celebrating the community around them.

Music legend Stevie Wonder continues Milwaukee’s focus on civic participation with his performance tonight at Fiserv Forum. The 25-time Grammy winner brings his “Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart” tour to the venue.

Wonder strategically timed his ten-city national tour to align with the 2024 election season. His recently released single, “Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart,” reinforces the tour’s unity and social awareness message. The Milwaukee show marks the eighth stop of his limited engagement, which began in Pittsburgh on October 8 and concludes in Grand Rapids on October 30.

The iconic artist crafted his setlist to emphasize themes of “joy over anger, kindness over recrimination, peace over war.” His performance aims to bridge political divides through music while addressing the nation’s pressing social issues.
