Black Girls Code, a trailblazing nonprofit, has just announced an exhilarating nationwide contest, “Build a Beat Challenge with Ciara,” sponsored by Infosys Foundation USA. This unique competition is not just any contest – it’s a musical coding revolution waiting to happen, and you could be a part of it!

Unleash the Power of Music and Coding: Aimed at students aged 13-18, this challenge empowers you to code your own song. Imagine the thrill of creating a tune that blends your technical skills with your musical creativity. And the cherry on top? A chance to meet the global superstar Ciara via a video call and win amazing tech prizes to fuel your dreams further.

Ciara’s Enthusiasm for Empowerment: Ciara, a global icon and GRAMMY Award-winning artist, is more than excited to support this initiative. She recognizes the power of technology in shaping futures and aligns with Black Girls Code’s mission to uplift students through education. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and she’s eager to see the innovative submissions from young talents like you.

The Contest Timeline: From November 14 to December 31, 2023, “Build a Beat Challenge with Ciara” invites you to dive into the world of coding. By joining the Pathfinders Online Institute by Infosys Foundation USA, you’ll get access to engaging tutorials developed by Black Girls Code. These will guide you on your journey to crafting unique songs and remixes, featuring sounds from renowned artists like Alicia Keys, Pharrell, and more.

Celebrity Judges Awaiting Your Creations: Your creations will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges, including Hip Hop pioneer MC Lyte, music producer Craig King, TikTok sensation The BoykinZ, and others. This is your chance to showcase your talent and potentially meet Ciara herself in a live video call!

The Impact of Black Girls Code: Black Girls Code has made significant strides since its inception. Their CODE Along program, in collaboration with GoldieBlox, has already made a huge impact, gathering thousands of subscribers and millions of impressions. This challenge is another step in empowering young minds to see themselves as integral parts of the tech world.

Cristina Jones, Leading the Charge: The CEO of Black Girls Code, Cristina Jones, is a beacon of inspiration, encouraging participants to build a world of their imagination. This challenge is more than a competition; it’s an opportunity for learning, belonging, and opening doors in tech.

A Partnership for Future Innovators: This challenge marks the second collaboration between Black Girls Code and Infosys Foundation USA. Together, they’re providing invaluable resources like the “Code a Song” tutorial videos, crucial for the contest’s participants.
