The Cooperage welcomes Milwaukee’s own Wave Chapelle and friends!

Wave Chapelle

Born in 1994, Radontae Ashford, aka Wave Chapelle, is a hip-hop artist from the north side of Milwaukee who grew up on the sounds of Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Drake. In 2013, Wave made his debut with the mixtape It’ll All Make Sense Soon, and in early 2014 he signed on to Yo Gotti’s CMG record label, spending a few years learning from Gotti and performing all over the US and Canada. Wave has put out a steady stream of music over the last ten years, and in the fall of 2022, he partnered with the Milwaukee Bucks to become one of their official ambassadors. His music can be heard at every home game, and he has performed in front of Bucks fans at Fiserv Forum on multiple occasions. His newest album, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, came out in early May. Wave is best known for songs like “Automatic”, “Built Different”, “Let It Breathe”, and “Victory”. Wave has been busy this summer, performing all over Milwaukee at some of the biggest events in the city, along with out-of-town shows in Chicago, Atlanta, and Minneapolis.

Micah Emrich

Micah Emrich is an independent and emerging artist based out of Milwaukee, WI. As a versatile singer-songwriter and musician, his skills enthusiastically embrace Pop, R&B, Alternative Rock, Hip Hop and EDM. Motivated by personal experiences and candid thoughts, he crafts rich melodies with catchy hooks, leaving lasting impressions. He and Duwayne put out their first full-length project together, “Du What You Mike”, in July 2023.

Duwayne

Milwaukee born musician and songwriter, Duwayne, presents a style of musicianship that blurs the line between vintage melodic expression and the novelty of computer generated music by use of a frequent combination of both real instrumentation and computer-based instruments. Though only recognized by few for his personal music, Duwayne has become a recognizable figure within the Milwaukee music scene without having an accessible catalog on streaming services by performing small acoustic shows accompanied by only his guitar. The Multiinstrumentalist has also performed as a drummer for other Milwaukee acts. Duwayne combines moving melodies with intricate rhythmic syncopation to create his freeform songs. Using a philosophy he coined “Eccentric Esotericism” Duwayne supplements his instrumental grooves with lyrics that are both ideal for the easy listener and the deep diver. Duwayne and Micah put out their first full-length project together, “Du What You Mike”, in July 2023.

Emmitt James

From the DIY circuit to playing bigger stages like the Roxy and the Novo, Emmitt James is a well celebrated and experienced performer. The Midwest bred emcee has been said to be reminiscent of acts like A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson. Paak and The Internet. Since being billed for Pharcyde Phestival ( 2018), Emmitt has been gaining momentum from opening for legendary acts such as The Pharcyde and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) to contemporary acts like Cuco, Joey Purp, Duckwrth, Old Man Saxon, Jay Prince, Banesworld and more. He also was a semi-finalist (top 12 out of 1,000) in the Adidas Originals Sound Lab grant competition where he scored a meeting with Pusha T at ComplexCon 2018.

dak duBois

Blending flavors of modern indie pop, 70’s funk/soul, and psychedelia of the ’60s/’70s, dak duBois uses his intricately guitar-infused melodies and well-placed chilled-out pop vocals to unfold anecdotes of a blurred psyche within a changing dynamic of society. dak duBois is the solo project of Milwaukee-based artist Dak Wright. His self-titled album was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered in his apartment-turned-studio and released in April 2023. He performs live shows with a rotating cast of local musicians, where sets bring funk-driven jammy overtones and memory-worthy experiences filled with high-level crowd engagement.
