NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts are a front-row seat to some of the best artists and musicians in the world. With more than 1,100 tapings over nearly 17 years, the series has grown from a niche, cool thing to a pop culture staple, and coveted opportunity. And, the range of genres has greatly expanded to include everyone from Dua Lipa, Juvenile, BTS, Sting and Shaggy and Adele.
In 2014, NPR Music decided to launch a competition for unsigned artists. The Tiny Desk Concert Contest requires them to submit a new video of one song, performed at “any desk” they choose. The winner will play an official Tiny Desk Concert, be paired with an industry mentor and receive other perks.
Each year, the judges receive thousands of submissions, including from those in the Midwest. Thanks to our very own Britney ‘B~Free’ Freeman-Farr, we found some 2025 entries from Wisconsin artists vying for a chance at the Desk.
