Neo-soul legend Maxwell to perform in Milwaukee this July

Grammy-winning R&B artist Maxwell will bring his soulful sounds to Milwaukee’s Miller High Life Theatre on July 31, 2025, with accomplished vocalist Leela James joining as special guest.

The concert, scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM, marks a notable addition to the downtown venue’s lineup of musical performances. Tickets for the event went on sale March 28, 2025.

Maxwell has established himself as an influential figure in contemporary R&B over more than two decades. His 1996 debut album, “Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite,” earned Grammy nominations and double platinum status, while his single “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)” achieved RIAA gold certification.

Throughout his career, Maxwell has released five studio albums, each receiving critical recognition. His 2009 release “BLACKsummers’night” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned two Grammy awards including Best R&B Album. His most recent album, “blackSUMMERS’night,” garnered a third Grammy for Best R&B Song with “Lake By The Ocean”1.

Special guest Leela James, born Alechia Janeice Campbell, has built her reputation as a respected R&B and soul singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. Her discography includes albums such as “Let’s Do It Again,” “My Soul,” and “Loving You More… In the Spirit of Etta James,” a tribute to the legendary vocalist.

For those interested in attending, VIP packages are available, including options for meet-and-greet experiences with Maxwell, reserved seating, and exclusive merchandise.
